Green Screen Effect

Today we added a few finishing touches to the music video. We green screened the film classics so now the background is a brick wall which makes the shot look more authentic and also compares the boring technological brick wall to the iconic filmography of the 60s and 70s.

We did this by recording the posters falling in front of a green back drop. We then uploaded the footage to the imovie application on the imac and we changed the mise-en-scene using the green screen effect to an image of a brick wall which we found on the internet.

We also green screened a mid shot of the artist surrounded by several mobile phones and a telephone which highlights the importance of technology today in comparison to the lack of awareness that people had of technology in the past.
Below is the shot which we recorded when filming the rural part of the video, We chose to use this as it represents the peace and tranquility before the globalisation of technology.

Then we reduced the saturation of the shot and used the black and white effect which conforms to Saussure's theory of signified and signifiers because the black and white shot signifies the past or an old fashioned period of time.

We then layered the mid shot of the artist surrounded by technology which contrasts the two themes of the music video.

Below is what the final shot looks like with the green screen effect which we chose to include in the final video.
